The Earth Fund has a New Leader

Andrew Steer, former President of the World Resources Institute, will take the helm of Jeff Bezos' Earth Fund, which is designed to combat the effects of climate change.

Having worked with WRI on projects around the world in the past, I can say this is a great move and will align the Earth Fund with the interests of environmental organizations around the world, civil society organizations and offer further diversity for how projects are selected and funded.

In addition to the Climate Pledge Fund and the Right Now Climate Fund, Bezos' philanthropic efforts on climate, environment and sustainability has dramatically increased over the last several years. With Microsoft and Elon Musk also making big commitments, perhaps this will be the Decade of Action that the world so desperately needs and marks a new era in corporate investment to fight climate change.
